I overslept. Not that we had anything planned but I wanted to get up early and go film the city solo. Apparently my body was not having it. It was actually a good thing for the day to come, so it all worked out. One thing I've learned while on this trip is that there's always more time in between plans than you think. We didn't start our day until later afternoon but I got some much needed data management done, something I'll post about in the future.
Spain is known for having an incredible nightlife. Not something I tend to do very often considering I don't drink, but it's definitely something we wanted to capture on film. Specifically on the emphasis on how late they go out. I came up with this idea to film quick shots of sometbing I'm doing and then show my phone to display the time.

We had this idea to try and film with the stabilizer outside of a car window to capture some of the architecture in the city. Mainly the large roundabouts throughout down town. We failed the first attempt via our uber having windows too small. Later that day, I saw some of the tourist buses driving around and their second floor had no windows. It was perfect, thus today that's what we did. I got some footage of the city while on the bus, we got some more footage walking around Prado and some expensive shops while I had the Stabilizer setup. Basically we can only carry around so much when exploring and the Ronin-M isn't your definition of portable, although it's not terrible to walk around with packed up. We just tried to get as much as we could while I had it on me that day and it resulted in us getting back later than expected.

Today we took a day of rest, a long siesta if you will. This mostly meant getting a little extra sleep, not planning any shoots and visiting the Prado museum. This is my first real art museum and I was unsure what to expect.
It was incredible. People have always told me it's a completely different experience seeing something in person than it is in a book or online, so I knew going in it would be somewhat different. I didn't realize how big these works are. Gigantic. Entire rooms. I got chills on numerous occasions as I realized I had studied some of the pieces I saw multiple times. They have a massive amount of Goya, 3 stories worth, and all I could think was how someone gets that many pieces done in a lifetime considering their size.

Another earlier morning to catch the bus to the next hotel we are checking out. This time no breakfast sadly. On the plus side I took one less bag by stuffing my C100 into my backpack. More on that later. We visited The Principal Madrid. Which was in the heart of the city, right next to one of the most famous building in Madrid.
Metropolis, a gorgeous view from their 7th floor terrace. After filming for a few hours, which I hope to upload some shots soon, we headed back to drop off the stabilizer. I just wanted to take the time to appreciate the little airbnb flat I am staying in. It's adorable and Rosa, the owner, has been all smiles. I imagine if I could have a bad day here, she would surely cheer me up. Thankfully that isn't the case so far!

I woke up way before my alarm. Which can be good and bad. Thankfully it just gave me ample time to prepare equipment for the day. Our only scheduled event was attending breakfast at Villa Magna and a small tour.
Casually the best eggs Benedict I've ever had. It was a special Ham from here in Spain. Delicious. I filmed for a bit. Got a tour of a room that we couldn't even film for security reasons.
