Alex Armitage
Alex is an international award-winning landscape photographer who’s currently nomadic. Having spent the last 4 years living on the road to explore some of nature’s spectacular beauty while simultaneously finding himself on a healing road from events within his life.
Through this journey he’s cultivated a deeper connection within nature, discovering the therapeutic power of photography as both an artistic medium and a means of rejuvenation. His work attempts to capture more than a scene, attempting to uncover deeper narratives within each photograph. These stories continue to evolve as his perspective does.
Many of these stories are told through his YouTube channel which has seen numerous transformations over the last 4 years. A constant throughout it all has been the pursuit of exploring photography with deeper meaning and attempting to discover more about the artistry within himself.

Torres Del Paine, Chile
The first rays of dawn pierce the horizon, casting a golden glow upon the rugged peaks of Patagonia. Granite monoliths, sculpted by eons of wind and ice, stand as silent sentinels against the vast expanse of sky. Their jagged edges are softened by the gentle touch of morning light, transforming them into majestic monuments of nature's artistry. Three caracara falcons, silhouetted against the fiery sky, soar effortlessly above the peaks, their wings outstretched in perfect harmony with the rising sun.
Wispy clouds, like ethereal brushstrokes, add a touch of whimsy to the already awe-inspiring landscape. The air is crisp and invigorating, carrying the scent of pine and damp earth. As the sun climbs higher in the sky, the colors intensify, transforming the scene into a vibrant tapestry of orange, pink, and purple. The mountains seem to glow from within, radiating an otherworldly warmth that fills the heart with wonder and awe. This is Patagonia at its finest, a breathtaking display of nature's power and grace.

We’ve gotten to a point where the majority of all photography is consumed through a screen, but much of my work is intended to be seen and experienced in a physical form.

So, I bought a Sony FE 24-50mm f2.8 for my Nikon Zf and if you’re like me, you probably have quite a few questions. Why this lens instead of a Nikon lens? How does this work and does it actually work reliably? There must be drawbacks right, you can’t just use another brands lens on a camera… Can you?
I had all of these questions myself and couldn’t really find great answers online, thus I’ve spent the last 4 months living with this setup to test the auto focus, functionality, and discover all the quirks and features of mashing two brand’s together into what I think is an ultimate setup. The results? Well they were better than I expected and the best part was discovering what this means for the future of Nikon’s Z Mount.
